HOMEMADE CROUTONS
INGREDIENTS
• loaf of sourdough or rosemary bread
• rosemary
• olive oil, butter, salt & pepper
DIRECTIONS
1) Get a small loaf of sourdough or rosemary bread from the bakery section of the grocery store. You’ll only need a few slices. I prefer rosemary!
2) Slice in thick pieces and cut the bottom crust off. Make bread into squares — about the size of a nickel. *optional: chop 1 sprig of rosemary if you only have sourdough bread
3) There are two ways to cook these, both garner delicious results. I think it’s easier to just bake!
Heat a pan on low/medium with 1 tablespoon of butter and olive oil. Add bread and sprinkle rosemary, salt and pepper on top. Let slowly cook until one side is golden brown — about 10 minutes and flip.
or
Preheat the oven to bake at 400 for 5 minutes until golden brown. Flip then repeat for another 5 minutes until golden.
4) If using a pan, add a little more olive oil and continue cooking until golden brown, about 10 minutes. Add to any salad (hot or cooled)!
Enjoy!
